About me

Urban Science Analyst

Based in Richmond, VA, I am an Urban Science Analyst at PlanRVA, where I specialize in leveraging data analytics to solve complex urban planning challenges and drive sustainability, climate resilience and equitable growth.

With a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from the premier institute of India IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, my career is driven by a passion for sustainable, resilient urban environments. My education and experience in diverse fields allow me to connect the strategies and principles of each, and work on a holistic approach to sustainable urban development.

By leveraging cutting edge data-driven research and analysis I am further able to speak facts and connect numbers to show progress that is hard to measure.

"I firmly believe that the fields we engage in hold tremendous potential for the future. It’s up to us to harness this potential and craft something truly meaningful."

Shaping Resilient
Cities of Tomorrow

🌎 A Global Perspective: Navigating Cultural Bridges

My journey has led me across continents, from the bustling streets of India to the vibrant universities of Malaysia teaching about E-waste, and from analyzing startup ecosystems in Egypt to fostering student exchanges in Shanghai as a country representative. These diverse experiences have gifted me with a rich understanding of cultural nuances and practices worldwide.

🔍 Data Insights: Connecting Numbers to Progress

As a data analyst, I wield Python, R, and SQL to uncover patterns and insights on complex geospatial data. Remote sensing and satellite imagery guide me toward envisioning climate change impacts. But it’s not just about data; it’s about decoding the whispers of the Earth—the rising tides, the shrinking forests, the overburdened cities, and the delicate balance we must preserve.

🌿 Environmental Stewardship: Crafting a Greener Path

Within the heart of an Indian power plant, I grappled with environmental management. Employing greenhouse gas inventories, pollution monitoring, resource management, and hazardous waste disposal, environmental education of on-site workers, I tried to make an impact and thats where I started to see the importance of a holistic approach needed to actually improve environmental conditions and drive sustainability.

🚲 Urban Mobility: Paving Pathways for People

Travel demand for cars, biking, pedestrians, and transit accessibility—It is important to analyze the demand of not just the present but also the future for all means of transportation. I have honed my skills in accessibility analysis of multi-modal transportation using open-source python packages like geopandas, madina, softwares such as Cube GIS, and projects like Scenario planning, LRTP, etc.

🌟 Social Impact: Building Bridges of Equity

Urban planning isn’t just about roads and buildings; it’s about lives intersecting. I measure progress not just in development but also in equitable growth for one and all. Working on demographies, social vulnerabilities and inequalities, I have gained experience in driving equitable futures. Through this social lens, I see the mosaic of a sustainable world—a place where growth uplifts all, leaving no one behind.

🌐 The Need of a Holistic View

When I stand at the crossroads of cultures, equations, and aspirations, I don’t see boundaries; I see bridges. And as I weave these threads, I bring to the table a kaleidoscope of insights—a unique vantage point where sustainability blooms, and the world dances to a harmonious rhythm.

In our quest for development, let us weave sustainability into every decision, ensuring that as we grow, so does the world around us — harmoniously and sustainably.
